For those congress men who voted fro the $700 billion bail out bill, are any of you going to vote those guys out of office?
If any of my Representatives had anything to do with the problem in the first place, I’d campaign to get them out, one way, or another. Demanding their resignation, for starters. If they don’t leave, vote someone better in!
So, where do we go to find out the pertinent facts?
And don’t start the "Blame Bush" rant!! This stuff started with Carter, and was expanded under Clinton! Bush had nothing to do with this problem!

Wow, I never read a ballot ticket that said "please pencil in your choice of the person you want to vote out"

I think it would be a great idea to completely clean House..and Senate.

I live in NY so I am in the liberal mecca of the world. And besides all the ones here are libs. They would get re-elected by the libs here even if they killed someone.
It really sucks here.

I think the bailout should of went to americans in debt and bailed people out of mortgages that are in the hole due to the economy. I mean really – How does bailing out multimillion dollar credit companies help me? I will still owe them money. I say give them money on my behalf that way I get my debt taken care of and they get money they need.

The bill is ugly, but without the bill, the ridiculous accounting rules (accountants have seriously undermined business’ ability to manage their own finances) force public banks and corporations to write down mortgage-backed assets because they have substantial evidence that those mortgages won’t get paid. The ‘bailout’ is just that, it helps banks who are spiraling into bankruptcy or liquidation sales get up on their feet a bit and rebuild their assets, which allows them to make loans, which helps the engine of growth begin to hum again.
I doubt it’ll be 700 bil dollars by the end of the two year window. And I doubt the government could have done much else in order to assuage the credit and finance markets.

some people voted for the bailout when over 90% of the people in their district were against it. That’s a pretty big statement right before an election.

The bail-out was the right move for the economy. The only one to vote out of office is the idiot in the White House who caused this situation to happen in the first place.
Unfortunately,he’s already had two terms to do his damage.

no.
because its too much of a hodge podge of who voted for and against.
This bill was first of all the end result of the failed bush presidency and his rubber stamp GOP congress.
Bush and his appointees….all republicans called for an emergency resolution or else there would be a great calamity.
Congress as a whole responded to that call and both democrats and republicans voted for it.
So in my eyes all these parties are guilty
Since this is a general election, I am not going to vote for the guy I would ordinary vote against simply because that senator or congressman voted for the bill.
I did not want the bailout to go through. I think this country needs to go through some hard times for us to regaiin our common sense.
However, I also believe that republican ideology is dangerous to the country as Bush has proven.
I called my congressman who is a democrat and told his office I was against the bailout. A few days ago he had voted against the bailout. This time he chose to vote for it. Yet, when I go vote, I will vote for him because he is a democrat…and whenever I see a republican on any ballot, I always vote against them.
I find it very interesting that on this bailout issue there are some strange bed fellow. A liberal democrat like kucinich actually also voted against the bailout along with some very conservative republicans…while on the other hand, Bush, McCAin, Obama, Lindsay Graham, Harry Reid, etc…voted for the bailout.
Its all mixed up.
(EDIT) sorry I cant help laughing at the guy below called RMG that wants to blame carter and says bush had nothing to do with the problem. think ya mind bit a teeny beety bit biased there bud? I know you are pro republican…but how do you think this washes with someone who actually has a brain and can think? do you realize that Carter left office nearly 30 years ago? and that Clinton left office nearly 8 years ago?
And lets assume even if you are correct, what was bush doing for his 8 years of running the country and especially in that period between Janunary 2001 and January 2007 when he also had a firm GOP control of congress? Were they just sitting on their thumbs doing nothing? I know they did not do that cause I know a lot of laws got passed and signed by Bush during that time..and I also know Bush appointed a lot of real smart fiscal conservatives to oversee these financial regualtory agencies…..lol
answer that please…so I can get another laugh.

The $700 Billion bailout is Congress’ gift to George W Bush and all his loyal wealthy family and friends who have done so much for our great country. They would have asked for $7 Trillion, but they didn’t want to appear to be too ungrateful.
All our fellow Americans who will lose their homes to foreclosure, George W Bush has some words of advice for you, "accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior and visit your local Faith-based soup kitchen for your one square meal a day. Hopefully you and your families have warm clothes to bundle up into when you try sleeping in your cars through those chilly winter nights. Alternately, you and your family can have yourselves arrested for vagrancy and spend the night in your friendly county jail."
America is home of the free and land of the brave (for those of you who are brave enough to own the land and are free to tell your servants to stay home).
Yes, I will vote against my congressman for voting for the bill.
