I live in center city philadelphia and have to leave a couch and a bed behind. Can I leave it for the garbage men to pick up? Is there someone else I’m supposed to call? I don’t want to get a fine or anything, but need to get it out of my apt.
Check out the "bulk items" section of the Streets Department’s trash page (in the source). It’ll give you all the info you need.
If you’re moving out of an apartment, definitely let the Streets department know. Otherwise your landlord may be fined for putting bulk items out that weren’t called in…plus, it insures that the items are picked up in a timely manner and your neighbors don’t have to deal with extra trash on their street during the week
